CNN Contest

I was reading CNN news and I read an article about CNN's Fit Nation Challenge. They select six people to participate in the Nautica New York City triathlon. It didn't look like many people entered the contest in 2010 so I'm thinking about entering a video in the 2011 contest. Today I created an account on CNN and I watched a couple of the videos that were already submitted.

I created a video of me sitting in front of the computer explaining why I should be picked for the Fit Nation Team. I don't have a hard ship reason why they should pick me so I think my chances of being selected are pretty slim. But, if I didn't create the video my chances of being selected would be zero.

Triathlon Swimming Class

There are 13 people in the triathlon swimming class. Many people have never been in a triathlon and some have already done a handful of triathlons. The class gets two lanes in the pool and it doesn't take long before we split up into groups of people that are "beginner" and "other." Unfortunately we end up with four "beginners" and nine "other" swimmers. I'm in the "other" group and it's tough to swim the length of the pool without catching up to the swimmer ahead of you. Eventually we figure out who is fastest and who is slowest so we swim in that order.

Class Cancelled

The triathlon 101 class is cancelled because they need a minimum of four people in the class. I agree to take the triathlon swimming class on Thursday nights. I thinks it's a good thing the 101 class was cancelled because I really need help with my swimming.

Signed Up

I thought about it all night and as soon as registration opened I signed up for the 2011 Philadelphia Triathlon. I only signed up for the sprint distance but it's still going to be a lofty goal for someone that can barely swim two laps of the pool.
