I wasn't very happy with my results in Lake Placid and I was less happy to find out the official results did not include my second swim lap or the T1 transition time. The WTC decided to take away everyone's second swim lap since so many people had to get out of the lake due to the lightning. And, the WTC decided to remove everyone's T1 time since many of the people had to run around the lake to get to transition.
I signed up for the Ironman Maryland triathlon in September. This is the first year for Ironman Maryland and many athletes had already committed to other races so this race was not sold out. After signing up I spoke with my coach and gave him the news only to find out it's very difficult to race a second Ironman two months after finishing an Ironman race. I'll have minimal time to recover, build endurance and taper between the races.
I expect to finish Ironman Maryland one hour faster than Lake Placid since the bike course is table top flat compared to the Ironman Lake Placid course.
