Jingle Bell Run

Today I ran my first race. The Jingle Bell Run was a 5K race near my house. It had rained all day and night but it wasn't raining when I drove to the school. It did start raining again while we waited in the school but thankfully the rain stopped before the race started.

I've been running 5K distances once a week in my training program so I know I can run the distance but I don't know if I'll be very fast. I'd like to finish in 24 minutes or less. It was very chilly in the morning but it warmed up by the time the race started. I'm over dressed and pulling off my hat and gloves during the race. I focused on the runner ahead of me and after I caught the runner I set my sights on passing the next runner. That helped set my pace and I finished with a time of 24:02. Not a bad time for my first race.

Chip Time 00:24:02
Finished in 64th place
Finished 48 out of 246 men
Finished 9 out of 39 in my age group

I ran into a friend after the race and she told me the Upper Mainline YMCA had a 5K race on December 31st.
